She's lost control

This blog is all about Joy Division, the band I love very much:-)....For some strange reason I just had a need to listen to them these days...Editors being one of the bands that reminded me of Joy Division and here I am listening and loving it...

Joy Division were an english band, composed of Ian Curtis (vocals), Peter Hook (bass),Stephen Morris (drums) and Bernard Albrecht (AKA Sumner, guitar).

"Joy Division's music is at the same time, dark and limpid, oppressing and liberating, dramatic and stimulating, in a word, it is filled with life. In the beginning of the 80's, new-wave bands were notonly trying to make money but to express what they lived and felt. In the Mancunian group - one has just to see or listen to their gigs to be aware of it, there is a feeling of absolute emergency. No cheating, no advertising (no musician name or picture on the records sleeves), no marketingstrategy. They are here because they have to, even if they do not feel like it. Absolute urgency,as the need for your lover's eyes, the comfort of a friend or the smile of a child; urgency that pushes you to the limits, and even further, whatever the cost. "

Said about Ian: "He killed himself on Saturday night. I couldn't believe it. He must have been a pretty good actor. We didn't have a bleeding clue what was going on. You tried to help him with your limited experience and you did what you could, but as soon as you left him he went back, you know? He wasn't on any plane. He should have been on a bleeding plane, the bastard. It's just really sad. I still feel angry to this day; because the whole thing that he wanted, the thing that he groomed you for, was success." Peter Hook

Did you ever bother to sit and listen to their songs from the start to the end? If not you should....

It's dark yet beautiful.....
